Vadodara : Reinforcing its commitment to Aatmanirbhar Bharat and India’s vision of becoming a global defence manufacturing hub, Air Force Station Vadodara organised an Industry Outreach Programme (IOP) on Tuesday to strengthen collaboration between the Indian Air Force (IAF) and India’s defence industry for the development of indigenous military technologies and next-generation defence capabilities.

The programme brought together senior representatives from Air Headquarters, Headquarters South Western Air Command, various Indian Air Force establishments, leading defence industries, MSMEs and emerging start-ups, creating a common platform to accelerate innovation, technology development and indigenous manufacturing for national defence.

The initiative was aimed at enabling Indian industry to gain deeper insight into the operational, maintenance and technological requirements of the Indian Air Force, thereby encouraging the development of Made-in-India defence solutions aligned with operational needs.

Industry representatives were provided detailed presentations and guided visits to critical operational, maintenance and administrative facilities at Air Force Station Vadodara. The interactions offered first-hand exposure to the IAF’s operational ecosystem, helping companies better understand real-world defence challenges and identify opportunities for indigenous product development.

The programme also featured extensive discussions between Air Force officials and industry leaders on designing practical, scalable and technologically advanced indigenous solutions for critical defence applications. Special emphasis was placed on innovation, technology absorption, collaborative research and accelerating self-reliance across strategic defence domains.

The enthusiastic participation of defence manufacturers, MSMEs and start-ups reflected the growing confidence of Indian industry in contributing to the country’s expanding defence ecosystem and its transformation from an import-dependent force to a globally competitive defence manufacturing nation.

The Industry Outreach Programme reaffirmed the Indian Air Force’s commitment to building stronger partnerships with domestic industries by creating an ecosystem that encourages innovation, technology transfer and indigenous capability development. Such initiatives are expected to play a crucial role in accelerating defence indigenisation while enhancing the operational readiness of the armed forces.

The initiative is closely aligned with the Government of India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision, which seeks to strengthen domestic defence manufacturing, promote innovation-driven enterprises, empower MSMEs and start-ups, reduce dependence on imports, and position India among the world’s leading defence technology and manufacturing nations.
