New Delhi: Air Marshal Tejpal Singh AVSM VM assumed charge as the Deputy Chief of the Air Staff on Saturday, bringing with him over three decades of operational, instructional and leadership experience in the Indian Air Force (IAF).
To mark the occasion, the Air Marshal laid a wreath at the National War Memorial and paid tribute to the brave personnel who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.
Commissioned as a fighter pilot on June 16, 1990, Air Marshal Tejpal Singh has logged more than 3,500 flying hours. A Category ‘A’ Qualified Flying Instructor and an Experimental Test Pilot, he has held several key operational, command and staff appointments during his distinguished career.
Recognising his exemplary service, the President of India conferred the Vayu Sena Medal on him in 2011 and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) in 2021. Air Marshal Tejpal Singh succeeds Air Marshal Awadhesh Kumar Bharti SYSM AVSM VM, who retired on July 31 after 39 years of distinguished service in the Indian Air Force.
His appointment comes at a crucial time as the IAF continues to strengthen its operational preparedness and modernisation initiatives amid evolving regional security challenges. Air Marshal Tejpal Singh is expected to play a key role in shaping force readiness, capability development and strategic planning in his new assignment.
