Singapore: Sembcorp Industries (Sembcorp), through its fully-owned renewables subsidiary, Sembcorp Green Infra Private Limited (SGIPL), has successfully obtained its first 50MW Round-the-Clock (RTC) power project from Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd (SECI). This build-own-operate initiative is part of SECI’s 1.2GW tender for RTC power sourced from renewable energy projects linked to the Inter-State Transmission System.
Sembcorp is set to integrate around 300 MW of installed capacity, which will include solar, wind, and battery energy storage solutions (BESS) to fulfill the contracted demand. Through this project, Sembcorp aims to enhance its renewable capabilities in India, raising its total gross renewable capacity to over 6.5 GW. On a global scale, Sembcorp’s total renewable portfolio has now reached 18.0 GW, factoring in acquisitions that are awaiting completion.
Subject to the signing of a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with SECI and the successful completion of the Project, it will provide round-the-clock renewable power supported by battery energy storage systems (BESS) to SECI. The Project is anticipated to commence commercial operations within 24 months from the PPA signing date. Funding for the Project will be sourced from a combination of internal funds and debt.
The awarding of the Project is not anticipated to significantly affect Sembcorp’s earnings per share or net tangible assets per share for the financial year concluding on December 31, 2025.
